The Porsche 911 we present to you is a rare and authentic privately-owned competition Porsche, with a well-documented history. Originally, it was a 1974 Carrera 2.7 from the G series, technically identical to the 2.7 RS 73, differing only visually with the new bellows-style bumpers to meet American market requirements. Bearing the number 973, it is one of the last of the 1036 units produced for the 1974 model year. In 1975, Mr. Christian Gardavot, a renowned amateur rally driver, purchased the Carrera second-hand from Sonauto, the brand distributor in France. Until 1986, Christian Gardavot would compete in numerous rallies of the World Championship and the French Championship with this car, achieving remarkable honors in events like the Tour de Corse, the Tour Auto, the San Remo, or the Monte-Carlo. Over this extensively documented career, the car evolved into a 3.0 RS version, Group 4, and later into Group B. It was prepared during this time by Michel Aubertin, a reputable preparer from Montpellier. The engine was reportedly developed based on a 3-liter 930/03 block, and it is the same engine that still powers the car today. The gearbox is a type 915/06 with an 80% limited-slip differential. Fuel injection is still handled by the Bosch 019 mechanical injection system. After this period, the 911 was acquired by Alain Pagès, a renowned driver of historic events. Another active driver in historic racing entrusted the 911 in 2003 for a total restoration to Jacques Bourgoin from Poitiers, an undisputed specialist in classic Porsches. The original body shell was, of course, retained, and the restoration was carried out with great care to preserve the traces of the car's history. Thus, the original Blue Riviera livery, combined with the white checkered bumpers and the RS 73 ducktail, was retained. The famous 911 then resumed competition for the next 10 years in historic events and achieved numerous successes with drivers such as Jacques Lafitte, Jean-Claude Andruet, Yves Courage, Alain Schlesinger, or Jean-François Migault. Recently, it underwent a complete revision at Courage Classic, Yves Courage's workshop in Le Mans. The engine was completely rebuilt by Daniel Rageau and delivers 262 hp at 7500 rpm. The chassis is perfectly tuned, and the car has driven about twenty hours since the rebuild but has not participated in any competition. This competition Porsche is thus strictly ready to race. It is one of the most performant 911s in its category while also being one of the "easiest" according to the opinions of numerous famous drivers who have raced it. Finally, it is worth noting that its track record naturally grants it access to the most prestigious events.
Formerly owned by Christian Gardavot, this Porsche has been granted a FIA GTS 37 classification with a Period Technical Homologation (PTH) in Class FIA GTS 37. Its serial number is 9114600973, and it is equipped with a 3-liter 930-03 engine that has been prepared and is essentially new, with only a few kilometers on it. Additionally, it comes with a French vintage registration certificate.
It should be noted that the color shown in the photos is the car's original color. However, the vehicle is currently in a different color. It will be possible to repaint it in its original color upon the request of the buyer.
