Today, enthusiasts are clamoring for the early Range Rovers, those from the 1970s, which were more rugged than luxurious, available only in three-door variants and sometimes in surprising colors. While retaining excellent off-road capabilities, these early models offered that delightful touch of "so British" luxury that made the Range Rover truly unique, an amalgamation of luxury and efficiency long before the era of today's luxury SUVs. To mark the transition before the next generation, Land Rover even offered, starting from late 1992, a particularly appealing version: the Range Rover Vogue LSE (and its American equivalent, the County LWB). The Vogue SE features a 20 cm longer wheelbase for the benefit of rear passengers. While the Vogue LSE still resembles the Classic Range Rover, its elongated chassis and pneumatic variable-height suspension, developed in collaboration with Dunlop, would serve as the basis for the P38A. Furthermore, it receives an evolution of the 3.9-liter engine pushed to 4.2 liters and 200 horsepower, whereas the initial P38 was limited (at the outset) to 4 liters and 185 horsepower.
